I often see people wondering if they need a Sports Therapist and what exactly they can do.
Sports Therapists are highly educated and continue to learn through continued learning even after they qualify. They deal with Musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, and treating/managing pain through many methods, these include but are not limited to:
- Hands on treatment
- Rehabilitation
- Patient Education
Sports Therapists have a goal; to get the patient back into a painless daily/sporting life as quickly and safely as possible whilst increasing quality of life. When seeing a therapist; they will assess and diagnose injuries, teach, and deliver a personalised treatment/rehabilitation plan to improve physical independence, educate patients on how to deal with chronic injuries and reduce pain.
Sports Therapists are either insured by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) or the Sports Therapy Association (STA).
Sports Therapists generally have more experience and exposure to sporting environments throughout their education through Sport specific placements, making this profession ideal for preventing/treating through specific strengthening programmes and different treatment techniques.
We look forward to seeing you at Mobility Physiotherapy!Â
