It is a light touch, responsive and non-intrusive technique that helps with a variety of scars, not just their appearance but their underlying effects on the body.
Adhesions stick structures together that would normally glide past each other; this can cause functionality problems and can affect posture and cause pain and discomfort. When using scar therapy techniques the aim is to soften and change the scar tissue; the light touch approach has been shown by research to create changes at cellular level and this enables deep change in the tissues to take place.
A full assessment on how the scars and adhesions are affecting your posture and gait will take place, then work not just on the scar but on the surrounding area.
How will it help?
I have been practicing scar therapy for over 5 years (predominantly with clients post breast cancer surgery) and have seen the significant benefits that they experience from improved range of movement, better posture, reduced anxiety around movement and appearance and improved pain and discomfort.
How many sessions will I need?
It will usually require a minimum of 3 sessions to experience improvement from the treatment with 3-4 weeks between treatments. I can deliver scar therapy in clients’ homes.
